CES 2022: The Biggest Changes to the Trade Show

 CES 2022
For 40 years, the
Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has held its event in Las Vegas, and has grown exponentially. Each year, excited attendees and exhibitors flock to Sin City for business and networking fun. After its move to digital in 2021, CES is ready to welcome back visitors in January 2022 – with a few changes. Find out the changes coming to this trade show and get resources for quality trade show transportation and logistics.

CES Offers a Digital Event Option

In 2020, CES decided to change its 2021 show to a digital-only event. While this was a change that many trade show associations made during the 2020 year, it left attendees feeling less connected than ever. The vaccine rate in the United States has continued to increase in 2021, making an in-person event more likely in 2022. However, CES will offer a digital event for those unable to attend in person.

The 2021 CES Anchor Desk is just one way that the CES and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) are promoting public safety.

International Attendees at CES 2022

In late September 2021, the U.S. government announced that restrictions for international visitors traveling to the county will be loosened. Beginning  in November, travel will open for foreign nationals who are vaccinated. This news means that international attendees will be able to join in person for the first time since 2020. Foreign nationals will be required to show proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test before traveling to the United States. Along with local guidelines, this is a positive sign for international attendees and exhibitors in 2022.

CES 2022 Will Require Proof of Vaccination

CES announced that it will be requiring proof of vaccination for its 2022 event. The anticipation for an in-person event in 2022 was tempered as the Delta variant presented a danger to the unvaccinated population. This is the reason the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the trade show association heading CES, implemented this requirement.

Gary Shapiro, President of the CTA, noted his concern for public safety:

“We prioritize the safety and security of CES participants. Which is why, once again, my team has confronted a major decision: CES will be in person in Las Vegas in January 2022, and we will require all attendees to be fully vaccinated. We all play a role in stopping the spread – requiring proof of vaccination for CES 2022 is one way we can take responsibility on our part.” (Source)
